In a poignant message on social media platform X, Samura Kamara, leader of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), reacted to the passing of former vice president of Sierra Leone Dr. Abdulai Osman Conteh,
“Yesterday marked a defining moment in the history of the All Peoples Congress Party and Sierra Leone as we lost by death, a political icon, a revered legal luminary, and an intellectual giant by all standards, Dr Abdulai Osman Conteh,” Kamara stated.
Dr. Conteh, who was nearing his 79th birthday, was hailed as an irreplaceable national and international asset.
Kamara reflected on his departure, saying, “Our revered patriarch completed his earthly sojourn and departed to his present glorious home above, where he will surely occupy one of the many rooms in our Father’s Holy Mansion.”
Expressing deep sorrow, Kamara conveyed the profound impact Dr. Conteh had on many lives.
“Our hearts are heavy, and will, to eternity, remain heavy, but full of satisfaction as we reflect on your life, your legacies, and the role you had played in the lives of millions of people in Sierra Leone and abroad,” he noted.
He also highlighted the enduring contributions of Dr. Conteh to the legal and political communities, which “will grieve with ever flowing tears as where oceanic waves of your knowledge continued to serve humanity.”
Kamara further emphasized Dr. Conteh’s dedication to justice, remarking, “Your selfless struggle for justice will always be remembered.” He extended his deepest condolences to Dr. Conteh’s family, saying, “I extend my deepest condolences to Aunty Radia and children. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
The nation joins the APC and the Conteh family in mourning the loss of a remarkable leader and visionary whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
