Samura Kamara, the leader of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has delivered a powerful message of unity, urging party members to rally together for the greater good.
In his address, Dr. Kamara emphasized the importance of internal cohesion, drawing parallels with the Democratic Party’s approach during the recent National Convention in the United States.
Reflecting on the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Dr. Kamara noted, “The way the Democratic Party united behind Kamala Harris—who was not widely known at the time—and confidently presented her to the American people was nothing short of extraordinary.”
He praised the Democratic Party’s ability to galvanize support not only within its ranks but also among non-party members, showcasing the strength that comes from a shared purpose.
Kamara highlighted the lessons that the APC could learn from this example.
“It showed us how even a relatively unknown member can be transformed into a national political and leadership icon, ultimately elevating the party’s stature,” he said.
He urged APC members to emulate this unity, stating that the party’s strength is “built and solidified through mutual support from every member, from the grassroots to the highest leadership.”
In his call to action, Kamara reminded his fellow APCians of the importance of coming together to achieve the goals set by the party’s founding fathers.
“Let us reflect on and recommit to the true spirit of comradeship that binds us as one,” he declared. “Together, we can renew the strength of our party, present a united front to the international community, and confidently lead Sierra Leone towards a brighter future.”
Kamara concluded his message with a strong assertion of faith, proclaiming, “This is our moment to demonstrate to the world that we are ready to lead with integrity, vision, and unity. Let us move forward, hand in hand, towards the victory that awaits us. What God cannot do does not exist.”
