FREETOWN, 23 October 2026 – The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has set Saturday, 24th October 2026, at 3:00 pm as the deadline for members of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) to submit petitions challenging rulings by the party’s Internal Elections Complaint Board (IECB).
The Commission said petitions can be submitted at its national headquarters in Freetown, its regional offices in Bo, Kenema, Makeni and Port Loko, or its district office in Kono.
The PPRC further announced that hearings on all petitions received will be held on Monday, 26th October 2026, at its headquarters in Freetown.
The hearings will bring together petitioners, the APC’s Internal Elections Complaint Board (IECB), the Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) which conducted the elections, and the APC National Secretariat.
Context:
The directive follows the recently concluded APC district executive elections held across the country as part of the party’s lower-level elections ahead of its National Delegates Conference.
The elections, which were conducted by the IEMC under Dr. Kaifala Marah, have generated several complaints from aspirants and party members over alleged irregularities, ineligibility of candidates, and procedural issues. Those complaints were initially referred to the party’s Internal Elections Complaint Board for internal resolution.
Under the Political Parties Act of 2022, the PPRC, chaired by Abdullai M. Bangura, is mandated as the regulator of all registered political parties and serves as the appellate body where party members dissatisfied with internal redress mechanisms can seek further review to ensure intra-party democracy and due process.
The Commission’s intervention is seen as a crucial step to ensure credibility and peace within the APC as it prepares for its constituency, regional, and national executive elections.
