Freetown, August 25, 2023 – President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has announced the appointment of Honorable Alusine Kanneh as the new Chief Immigration Officer for the country.
Kanneh, who previously served as the deputy whip of the Sierra Leonean Parliament, will take up his new role following a letter dated August 25, 2023.
With an extensive background in immigration matters and a decade of experience, Kanneh is well-equipped to lead the immigration department. His expertise is further demonstrated by his prior role as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs.
The formal appointment letter, signed by the Secretary to the President, reads: “I write to inform you that it has pleased His Excellency the President, Brig (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio, to appoint you as the Chief Immigration Officer. The terms and conditions of service pertaining to your appointment will be communicated to you in due course. I extend my congratulations on your appointment and wish you success in your new assignment.”
Kanneh’s new responsibilities will include overseeing immigration operations and policies within the country.
He will succeed Andrew J. Kaikai, the current Chief Immigration Officer, and is expected to bring fresh perspectives and leadership to the role.
