The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have refuted claims circulating on social media alleging that a young girl has been kidnapped and that her abductor is demanding a ransom for her release.
In a public notice issued earlier today in Freetown, the Police stated that no formal complaint or report of such an incident has been filed at any police station across the country.
According to the police, no individual or group has come forward to report a missing relative or loved one as suggested in the widely shared video.
The statement emphasised that the police would promptly update the public should any credible report or new information regarding the alleged incident be received.
Authorities also urged members of the public to share any information that could assist in maintaining peace, safety, and security nationwide.
