Freetown, 30 July 2026 — The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has announced that applications for Police Clearance Certificates are now processed entirely online through the government’s WanGov digital platform.
In a public notice issued today, the SLP said members of the public can apply from any location with internet access by visiting www.wan.gov.sl. The move eliminates the previous requirement to visit the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in person.
The police described the change as part of the Government of Sierra Leone’s broader drive to digitise public services. The goal is to improve efficiency, accessibility, transparency and convenience for citizens.
“This initiative forms part of the Government of Sierra Leone’s ongoing commitment to digitizing public services and enhancing efficiency, accessibility, transparency, and convenience in service delivery,” the notice stated.
To ensure no one is left behind, the SLP has designated support centres where trained WanGov Partnership Associates will assist people who lack internet access or need help with the online process. The centres are:
– Central Police Station, Freetown
– Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, Freetown
– WanGov Service Booth, General Post Office, Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown
The Sierra Leone Police said it remains committed to delivering efficient, transparent and citizen-centred services through modern technology.
The public is encouraged to use the WanGov platform for a faster, more secure and more convenient Police Clearance Certificate application process.
