The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone concluded their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Zambia’s Chipolopolo.
The decisive match took place at the SKD Sports Complex in Liberia and dashed Sierra Leone’s hopes of qualifying for the prestigious continental tournament.
Zambia broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when E. Banda struck a well-placed goal. K. Musonda extended the lead in the 71st minute, delivering the final blow to Sierra Leone’s chances of a comeback.
The defeat left the Leone Stars in third place in Group H, managing only 5 points from six matches. Despite valiant efforts throughout the qualifiers, Sierra Leone was unable to secure a place in the upcoming AFCON competition.
