Seville, Spain– Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, delivered a powerful address at a high-level panel during the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), calling for a radical shift in how Africa funds its future.
Representing President Julius Maada Bio, VP Juldeh Jalloh joined world leaders, financiers, and development experts at the Global Citizen Now- organized event, where discussions centered on closing the Global South’s staggering financing gap
“Africa Must Move Beyond Aid Dependency”VP Jalloh stated.
With decades of development expertise, the Vice President argued that relying solely on foreign aid is unsustainable. Adding that , “Official Development Assistance (ODA) alone cannot meet Africa’s pressing needs,”
he declared. “The future lies in smart policies that unlock private investment.”
Using Sierra Leone as a case study, he urged African governments to:Strengthen financial regulations, Improve governance frameworks and Create investor-friendly environments
His stance won immediate backing from Gates Foundation CEO Mark Suzman, who praised the vision as “ essential for Africa’s growth”.
