October 10th, 2023 – An alleged case of illegal crossing from Liberia to Sierra Leone on Tuesday led to a police officer’s injury at the Kamba Wuko crossing point.
According to an abstract report by Crime Officer D/Insp. Borbor Brima, at approximately 11:15hrs, a group of individuals, including James Kennie Brima, Mustapha Bousor, Hajji Banya, and Jebbeh Rogers, all residents of Jendema town, Sorogbema Chiefdom, were apprehended by Military Personnel led by Sgt 18180099 Conteh, J. These individuals were arrested after allegedly crossing from Liberia to Sierra Leone using a locally made boat.
During the incident, Corporal Tarawalie 18180089 mistakenly discharged 12 rounds of ammunition, injuring himself in the left foot. Immediate medical attention was provided, and statements were obtained from all parties involved as a thorough investigation is underway.
In a related development, a joint routine patrol within the Mano River Division was conducted on the same day. Regional Commander South, CSP Fambulleh, Lieutenant Colonel Maturie of the 14th Infantry Battalion Pujehun, and Tengbeh, head of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), visited various border crossing points, ensuring heightened security measures.
AIG Brima Kanneh, the Regional Commander South, reported a calm and peaceful atmosphere throughout the entire division due to the joint patrols and robust security measures in place.
