Freetown, February 27, 2025 – The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, has initiated the reclamation of Tacugama Sanctuary land, officially designated as a national tourist asset.
The exercise, which began on February 26, 2025, aims to restore all lands within the sanctuary’s demarcated boundaries.
The government has called on all individuals with legitimate claims backed by documented proof to report to the Acting Professional Head and Director of Surveys and Lands for verification.
The verification process will run from Thursday, February 27, to March 19, 2025, spanning 21 days. Claimants will be issued acknowledgement receipts upon presentation of the necessary documents.
The Ministry has urged full cooperation from the public to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.
