FREETOWN – President Julius Maada Bio has called on the Leone Stars to regroup and strengthen their preparations for future international competitions following the conclusion of Sierra Leone’s 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Addressing the team at Sea Bird Express in Lungi after their return, President Bio commended the players for their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Djibouti in Casablanca, Morocco, on Sunday.
“Let’s reorganize for future tournaments,” he told the squad, emphasizing the need for greater focus and planning to ensure Sierra Leone’s success on the global stage.
The President assured the team of his continued support and pledged to hold further engagements with players and officials to explore ways of improving performance and providing government backing.
He praised their commitment but challenged them to push harder, noting that the country looks to them for inspiration and international recognition.
Sierra Leone ended Group A with 15 points, unable to qualify but still proud of their strong performances during the qualifying campaign.
