Freetown — Unverified and false reports about the death of popular Sierra Leonean footballer Musa Noah Kamara, widely known as Musa Tombo, have been circulating on social media and online platforms this evening.
Accoesinvg to some claims on social media, Musa Tombo died in a road accident in Bo District. However, family members have publicly rejected the claims.
In a message shared by his wife, Memzo Timbo (also known as Memunatu Sow), she stated: “Hi friends & family, nothing happened. Musa is well ok. Thank you all for calling.”
The family has urged the public to ignore the unfounded information.
Authorities and media observers continue to stress the importance of verifying information before sharing it, particularly on social media where rumours about public figures can spread rapidly.
Musa Tombo, a prolific striker and former Leone Stars international, is one of Sierra Leone’s best-known football talents. He has won multiple Golden Boot awards in the Sierra Leone Premier League with clubs including East End Lions, Bo Rangers and Ports Authority, and scored a memorable goal for the national team at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
