A joint security team comprising personnel of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has arrested a suspect after allegedly discovering 16 packets of suspected kush during a routine checkpoint operation at Mile 38.
The operation took place on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, when officers intercepted a vehicle and conducted a thorough search. The suspect, identified as Michael Jajua of 7 Turay Drive, Juba Hill, Freetown, was stopped and searched as part of ongoing efforts to combat the trafficking and distribution of illicit substances.
According to security personnel, the search led to the recovery of 16 plastic packets containing a substance suspected to be kush, concealed in the boot of the vehicle.
The suspect was immediately taken into police custody, and the recovered exhibits have been retained as evidence pending further investigation.
