In a significant diplomatic development, Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, held a crucial meeting with the Deputy Assistant Secretary for West Africa in the Bureau of African Affairs, accompanied by the American Ambassador.
The discussions revolved around pressing matters, notably focusing on governance and the sensitive Sahel situation.
The dialogue encompassed various topics, including deliberations on the National Electoral Systems Review Committee and ongoing mediated talks between the Sierra Leonean government, led by the SLPP, and the APC.
Vice President Jalloh reiterated President Julius Maada Bio’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the enduring partnership between Sierra Leone and the United States.
Furthermore, he emphasized the pivotal role of the United States in collaborating closely with ECOWAS to address the ongoing crisis in Niger. There was also an urgent call to rescue the Malian peace process from the brink of collapse.
Given the gravity of these regional challenges, Sierra Leone expressed its intention to leverage its position within the security council to proactively engage in West Africa and the Sahel.
The country aims to bolster regional and multilateral initiatives aimed at fostering stability in the region.
