On August 1st, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in Freetown, Sierra Leone, strengthened security cooperation by installing advanced electronic equipment at the Joint Operations Center in Murray Town.
The newly donated equipment is set to significantly bolster the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) Maritime Wing’s capabilities in monitoring coastal threats.
The Joint Operations Center will now have enhanced monitoring capabilities to identify potential threats from watercraft off the coast of Sierra Leone.
This upgrade will facilitate quicker response times and better decision-making in dealing with vessels posing risks to the country’s security.
The United States, through Security Cooperation Chief Jeb Baker, emphasized the importance of supporting the RSLAF Maritime Wing in enhancing their system capabilities to ensure the safety and security of Sierra Leone’s citizens remains a top priority for both the Sierra Leonean and United States Governments.
“Working with the RSLAF Maritime Wing to upgrade their system capabilities is a must,” noted Security Cooperation Chief Jeb Baker.
