On September 27, the U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with U.S. contractor Triple Canopy, concluded a month-long training program for personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
The training focused on maintaining and operating the military Depot staging facility, a critical asset for regional operations.
The program, which included both classroom instruction and hands-on experience, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the professionalism of the Sierra Leone military.
The United States will officially hand over control of the facility to the RSLAF on December 1, 2024.
U.S. Ambassador Bryan D. Hunt highlighted the importance of a professional military in ensuring stability, security, and the protection of citizens’ rights in Sierra Leone, which are vital to fostering prosperity and a strong democratic foundation in the country.
