Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed Abdul Karim Bangura, widely known as AKB, as the new Team Manager of the Leone Stars, the country’s senior men’s national football team.
His appointment, announced on Saturday, August 16, 2025, takes immediate effect.
The decision was reached during an SLFA Executive Committee meeting held at the Association’s Secretariat in Freetown. According to the SLFA, the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Leone Stars’ technical and administrative structures ahead of crucial international fixtures.
Bangura, who also serves as Team Manager of Bo Rangers Football Club, brings a wealth of experience and a proven record of leadership.
Under his management, Bo Rangers have emerged as one of Sierra Leone’s most successful clubs in recent years. His reputation for strong organizational skills and passion for football development made him a leading candidate for the national role.
In confirming the appointment, the SLFA Executive expressed confidence that Bangura’s expertise will play a pivotal role in enhancing the team’s preparation and performance.
As Team Manager, he is expected to work closely with the technical staff, players, and stakeholders across the football community to ensure the Leone Stars are adequately equipped and motivated to compete on the continental and global stage.
