In collaboration with the Sierra Leonean Community Committee in Lebanon, the Sierra Leone Consulate in Lebanon has mobilized support of basic necessities like food stuffs, blankets and beddings for stranded migrant workers from Sierra Leone.
The campaign to support stranded migrant workers from Sierra Leone received a big boost from the IOM (International Organization for Migration) which provided healthcare facilities for the stranded migrant workers from Sierra Leone seeking shelter in areas not affected by the Israeli bombardment of Beirut and its surrounding areas.
The stranded migrant workers expressed sorrow at the loss of the Sierra Leone Consul in Lebanon, Pa Hashim Hashim, for his fatherly support and stewardship.
They expressed thanks and appreciation to the President of the Sierra Leone Community Committee in Lebanon, Mousa Saksouk and the committee’s Secretary General Mr. Jaward for their support during this hour of great need.
One of the stranded Sierra Leonean migrant workers in Lebanon expressed thanks and appreciation to staff of the Sierra Leonean Consulate in Lebanon, for their support and interest shown in their welfare and safety. She said, “We look forward to our safe repatriation back home to Sierra Leone”.
