In a recent weekly press conference, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Ibrahim Alpha Sesay, confirmed that two cement factories are set to commence production next year, promising a significant impact on prices.
Assuring the public, he stated that this surge in local production will lead to a notable reduction in both cement and plywood prices.
Furthermore, Minister Sesay disclosed plans to privatize the Standard Bureau, emphasizing the need for enhanced global standards.
He underscored the importance of the Bureau’s role in testing locally produced goods for global consumption.
The Minister assured the public of the upcoming establishment of a standard laboratory dedicated to certifying food items for export.
Collaborating with the Ministry of Finance and the National Revenue Authority, the Ministry of Trade is actively working towards the creation of a convenient one-stop shop for all payments.
