The National Public Health Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Health has debunked rumors of an Ebola case in neighboring Guinea.
This is according to a press release iaaued today 8 February 2023, and signed by Professor Foday Sahr, Executive Director, National Public Health Agency.
The release noted tbat Dr. Sory Conde, who is the Agency’s counterparts in Guinea, there are no cases of Ebola Virus Disease as of today, 8th February 2024.
The World Health Organization (WHO) country office in Freetown has also confirmed the absence of any notifications regarding Ebola cases.
Instead, Guinean authorities have reported a confirmed case of Lassa fever in Nzerekore, an area known for Lassa fever endemicity.
“The National Public Health Agency and the Ministry of Health reiterate their commitment to disseminate timely and accurate information on public health issues,” stated Professor Foday Sahr.
