In a dramatic twist in the ongoing Court Martial trial, Lance Corporal David Saidu, a key witness and investigator with the Joint Purpose Unit, Cockeril, testified today, unveiling startling revelations.
Testifying before the Judge Advocate and Board Members, Lance Corporal Saidu disclosed the discovery of black rounds of ammunition at the residence of the 4th Accused, Abu Dauda.
The accused, along with the 5th and 12th individuals, were identified by Saidu during his testimony.
Detailing the events of November 25th and 26th, 2023, Lance Corporal Saidu explained his role in the investigation, including obtaining statements from the accused.
He recounted a pivotal moment on December 4th, 2023, when he, alongside Detective Mohamed Kargbo of CID and others, interviewed the fourth accused, who was cautioned and questioned with the offer of legal representation.
During the search of the fourth accused’s premises, Lance Corporal Saidu revealed the discovery of black rounds of ammunition, typically used for training purposes, and liquid substances.
The witness clarified that such ammunition is conventionally stored within the army.
When questioned about the findings, the accused did not contest possession of the items.
The accused attributed the delay in returning the ammunition to the incidents on November 25th and 26th. Statements from the fourth accused and others interviewed were presented in court.
Legal representation for the fourth accused was provided by Lawyer Tejan, while the state’s counsel was Alieu Vandy Koroma. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
