The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA), has announced a reduction in fuel prices for September 2024, with the cost of petrol dropping from NLe 28.50 to NLe 28 per liter.
This adjustment is effective from September 2, 2024.
According to the PRA, the stable performance of the Leone against the U.S. dollar and changes in global import costs influenced the new fuel prices.
The official exchange rate for fuel pricing this month is set at NLe23.38 per USD.
The average landed costs of petroleum products have decreased, with petrol now at USD820.03 per metric ton, diesel at USD919.27, kerosene at USD942.94, and fuel oil at USD675.91 per metric ton, reflecting a drop compared to August prices.
Additionally, the PRA has implemented a debt recovery fund of NLe0.24 per liter for diesel and revised the price correction levy for petrol to NLe0.36 per liter.
The new retail prices are as follows:
– Petrol: NLe28 per liter
– Diesel: NLe28 per liter
– Kerosene: NLe26.24 per liter
– Fuel Oil: NLe26.04 per liter
These prices will remain in effect until further notice. The PRA continues to emphasize transparency and fair pricing to protect consumers and investors in the petroleum sector.
