Makeni, Sierra Leone – In a landmark decision aimed at fostering national reconciliation, the Sierra Leonean government has dropped all charges against ten members of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC).
The individuals, previously accused of serious crimes including murder and arson, were discharged and released following a court session in Makeni.
The move aligns with Resolution 4 of the Agreement for National Unity (ANU), a pact designed to strengthen peace and stability in the country.
The government’s decision follows a list submitted by the APC, demonstrating a commitment to dialogue and political harmony.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice Charles Margai reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to fully implementing the ANU, emphasizing that national unity remains a priority for President Julius Maada Bio’s government.
The development marks a significant step toward bridging political divides and fostering lasting peace in Sierra Leone.
