In a dramatic courtroom appearance on the 15th May, 2024, twenty-eight-year-old Chernor Jalloh, famously known as Fullah Boy and previously sentenced to eighty-eight years in prison, stood before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No 1 in Freetown.
Chernor Jalloh, along with his alleged accomplices, twenty-year-old Gibrilla Kamara, also known as Wizzy and sixty-two-year-old businessman, Saidu Governor Kargbo, faced an array of charges, including multiple counts of robbery, possession of illegal firearms and assault.
The charges stem from an incident on March 25th, 2024 when the accused allegedly conspired to commit robbery with aggravation at a residence in Freetown’s Bathurst village.
Armed with a shotgun and machetes, they purportedly robbed multiple individuals, causing grievous bodily harm and inflicting wounds in the process. The stolen items included mobile phones, laptops, cash and jewelry, with a combined value of thousands of Leones.
During the proceedings, James Kelfala Mamoh Foh, the Procurement Officer for Rural Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, provided gripping testimony, recounting the harrowing events of the robbery.
He described how he confronted Chernoh Jalloh, who was brandishing a gun, before narrowly escaping a potentially fatal shot. He detailed the chaos as the assailants ransacked his home, prompting neighbors to intervene by pelting the roof with stones.
In response to the prosecution’s request for an adjournment to confer with witnesses, Defense Counsels ,C. Kamara and A. Mansaray, renewed their bail applications for the accused. However, Magistrate Kekura denied bail, ordering the defendants remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned until May 21st, 2024, as legal proceedings continue to unfold in what promises to be a high-profile trial.
