There was a physical confrontation between Kellie Koroma and a group of Poro society members, who descended on Kellie, overpowered him and dragged him to a thick forest reported to be the secret shrine of the Poro society at Dalakuru Village, Diang Chiefdom in Koinadugu District.
The said process was inhuman, barbaric, painful and unenduring. After several hours of fight between Kellie and the Poro members, he manage to escape. One of the close family member revealed that Kellie was rushed to the 34 military Hospital Semi-unconscious. The situation that Kellie Koroma found himself in was a nightmare, as being part of secret society, one has to stop being a Christian. As tradition demands the male child of the family must replace his father as the head of the society, after the death of their father pa Joseph Fasalie Koroma who passed away on 29 July 2025, he was asked to replace his father as the only available son during the upcoming one-year memorial ceremony in the Village. Report reaching this media says that Nyawulu Koroma was also attacked in the nearby Village sometimes in 2022 for refusing to replace his late father Pa Yasuko Koroma.
In September 2025, some youth vandalism the shrine in the Village, An onlooker who was on the scene of the attack told this medium that Kellie Koroma was actively mobilizing support from a distance for the condemnation of forceful initiation of teenagers into the Poro Society. Therefore, it was this backdrop that the society men started searching for Kellie and his family to be killed.
Kellie Koroma, who fled the Country, is nowhere to be found whiles his children and other members of the family are seriously under threat. Nevertheless, secret societies with political interest have cropped up periodically in Sierra Leone that politicians and the police see it as a no go area whenever intimidation and harassments reports given by someone concerning the secret societies in the Country.
What is more of concern in Kellie’s situation is the fact that some of the Stake holders are part of this Poro Society in the Country which includes Politicians, Police, Military personnel and many others who are still serving as active members.
Until press time the way about of Kellie Koroma is yet to be confirm by his family, whiles the society members are still searching for him.
