Njala Mokonde, Sierra Leone – 13 April 2025 – Njala University is in mourning following the tragic death of one of its students, who was reportedly killed near the India Temple at the Royal Night Club in Mosongo.
In an official statement issued by the Students’ Union Government (SUG), the university confirmed the incident and assured the student body that steps are being taken to uncover the truth.
“It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the tragic loss of one of our students, a fellow Njalite sister,” the SUG stated. “Initial findings suggest that she was not stabbed, but rather sustained a severe head injury, which caused excessive bleeding from the nose, mouth, and ears.”
Authorities have taken into custody all individuals residing close to the victim’s room for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Bo Government Hospital for a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
According to the SUG, university executives, including the President, are working closely with security forces to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
“We are committed to ensuring that justice is pursued and that due process is followed,” the Students’ Union affirmed. “We urge all students to remain calm and cooperate with investigators.”
As the community grapples with the tragedy, the SUG called on all students and staff to keep the deceased in their thoughts and prayers.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
The university community continues to await official updates from medical and security authorities.
