At around 10 AM on Friday 2 August 2024, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) received an alert regarding an earth tremor and a loud sound reported by residents of the Fullah Town community in Makeni City.
NDMA staff are currently on site responding to the situation.
Interviews with community members have been conducted, but the cause of the incident remains unknown.
Reports indicate that the sound was also heard in other parts of Makeni, including Cemetery Road and the Central Business Area.
As of now, there are no visible signs of damage such as ground cracks, structural damage, or displaced boulders in the Fullah Town community.
NDMA is closely monitoring the situation and has informed national authorities, seeking the intervention of geoscientists for further investigation.
Let the geoscientist investigate. Because gasses or magma movement under ground can also cause such large noise and to worst extent may cause eruptions.
God help our people in Makeni and surrounding.
