In a significant transfer development, Sierra Leonean forward, Mustapha Bundu, has officially become the latest addition to Plymouth Argyle Football Club.
The 26-year-old forward has sealed a permanent deal with the Pilgrims, departing Belgian top-tier side Anderlecht. The exciting move comes on the deadline day and has been met with great anticipation.
Mustapha Bundu, who originally joined Belgian giants Anderlecht in 2020, had previously set AGF’s club record with his transfer. His football journey has seen him embark on loan spells to various clubs, including Copenhagen, a return to AGF, and a stint with Andorra in the Spanish Segunda Division during the last season.
Plymouth’s Manager, Steven Schumacher, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “I am thrilled that we have managed to bring Mustapha to the club. He is someone we have been tracking for a while and will bring different qualities to our forward line.”
Bundu’s international experience as a Sierra Leonean national player and his background in top-tier Belgian football make him a valuable addition to Plymouth’s squad. Moreover, his prior experience in England, particularly in the South West, is expected to aid his swift integration into the team.
Argyle’s Director of Football, Neil Dewsnip, echoed the excitement, saying, “We are really pleased to bring Mustapha to the club and believe he will complement our forward line perfectly. He has an international pedigree, and is tall and athletic, but is also pacy and can run in behind defences. Mustapha can also play anywhere across the front line, which will give the manager further options throughout the Championship season.”
It’s important to note that the completion of this deal is contingent upon international clearance and the approval of a work visa. Mustapha Bundu is set to wear squad number 15 as he begins this new chapter in his football career.
