Magburaka, November 25, 2025: A pregnant woman and one of Mile 91’s most respected businessmen, Mr. Alhajie Salieu, tragically lost their lives Monday night when the ambulance rushing them to hospital crashed near River Rokel on the Magburaka highway.
The expectant mother, whose identity has not yet been officially released by the family, was being transported from Mile 91 for urgent obstetric care when the accident occurred.
Sources close to the family say she was in the final weeks of her pregnancy, and the entire community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of both mother and unborn child.
Traveling in the same ambulance was Mr. Alhajie Salieu, the owner of the popular Salieu Pharmacy in Mile 91. Known across Tonkolili District for his kindness and generosity, Mr. Salieu had reportedly fallen seriously ill earlier in the day and was being taken to Magburaka for advanced treatment.
The ambulance veered off the rain-slicked road and overturned shortly after 10 p.m. Despite the rapid response of emergency teams, both the pregnant woman and Mr. Salieu were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and attending nurse survived with injuries and are receiving treatment.
