In an official statement released today, the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (MoD/RSLAF) have announced the commencement of payments for indemnity due to recently discharged Ex RSLAF personnel.
According to the statement, a total of 48 personnel, classified as other ranks, were discharged on grounds of misconduct and are now eligible for benefits under the Armed Forces Endowment Loan Scheme (AFELS).
The payment process will be conducted in two phases, spanning from Wednesday, April 3rd to Thursday, April 4th, 2024. Phase one will involve documentation on the first day, while phase two will entail actual payment on the subsequent day.
The discharged personnel have been categorized into three batches for the payment process:
– Batch 1: Consisting of twenty-six (26) personnel without loan documentation, scheduled for payment on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024.
– Batch 2: Comprising twenty (20) personnel with outstanding loan documentation, set to receive payment on Thursday, April 4th, 2024.
– Batch 3: Two (2) personnel awaiting disciplinary proceedings, with the date to be communicated later.
All affected ex-service personnel are urged to report in person to collect their indemnity payment at the Armed Forces Endowment Loan Scheme Headquarters, located at Cockerill Barracks Wilkinson Road, Freetown.
The payment process will commence at 10:00 hours each day from April 3rd to April 4th, 2024.
