The Preliminary Rounds of the 6th ‘International Loving Peace Art Competition’ organized by International Women’s Peace Group(IWPG) Global Region 5 (IWPG, Regional Director Su Jin Park) were held over two days, on the 25th and 29th of last month, at Amcha Ghar School and Jr College, St. Mathew’s High School & Junior College, and Pragnya Bodhini High School in Mumbai, India.
More than 1,000 students participated enthusiastically in the preliminary rounds held at Amcha Ghar School and Jr College, St. Matthew’s High School & Junior College, and Pragnya Bodhini High School.
The theme of this year’s competition is “A Heart of Peace Conveyed to Friends Suffering from War.” The participating students expressed the pain of war and the importance of peace through their artwork based on this theme.
Su Jin Park, Regional the Director, stated, “Each year, a theme is given and only artworks completed within the allotted time are judged by professional judges and awarded. Your works will not only move your peers but also adults. They will serve as valuable material for reflecting on the importance of peace.”
Meanwhile, one participating student said in an interview, “There are many wars happening in various countries right now. Through this peace drawing competition, I want to convey peace to the world. War should not exist, and peace is something we urgently need.”
Another student remarked, “Peace is the freedom from all violence that occurs in daily life before parents, family, classmates, school, and strangers. Just as birds are free, we should always be free, and there should be peace in the world.” The student added, “I hope more students participate in this competition and join in conveying peace to the world, just as we hope for peace by participating in this event.”
IWPG expects that through this event, the artworks created by students, expressing their desire for peace, will deeply move not only people in India but also individuals around the world.
