Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has launched a series of strategic consultations with political parties, state institutions, and international partners as part of preliminary preparations for the country’s 2028 general elections.
According to the Commission, the engagements aim to enhance transparency, reinforce institutional credibility, and foster confidence among key stakeholders well in advance of the electoral process.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner emphasized that the early dialogue is intended to promote professionalism and strengthen cooperation with partners involved in the electoral cycle.
He noted that sustained engagement is essential to building trust and ensuring the delivery of credible and internationally accepted elections.
The consultations are also expected to provide a platform for addressing concerns raised by political actors and civil society organisations, while outlining the Commission’s operational readiness for the next national polls.
Analysts view the early outreach as a step toward strengthening inclusivity and accountability within the electoral framework as Sierra Leone prepares for its next democratic exercise.
