Freetown, Sierra Leone – February 15, 2026 – The All Peoples Congress (APC) Party has announced the postponement of its nationwide Ward Elections, shifting the date from February 14 to February 21, 2026.
The decision, outlined in a public notice issued by the party’s National Secretariat, aims to ensure a smooth and well-organized internal electoral process.
In the notice dated February 14, 2026, the APC explained that the rescheduling provides the Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) with additional time to complete essential preparations.
“The new date will give the IEMC enough time to complete the training of its personnel and finalize logistical arrangements,” the document states.
It further notes that the change will allow for the early deployment of election officials to guarantee that the Ward Elections proceed without hitches.
The party emphasized that the move was made “in good faith and in the best interest of the Party,” with the goal of fostering a “peaceful, transparent, and well-organized internal election process.”
This internal election follows a constructive meeting held on February 14, between party leadership and the IEMC, where the original date was initially agreed upon.
APC leadership expressed gratitude to its members for their ongoing support and resilience.
“The Leadership sincerely thanks the entire membership for their continued loyalty, patience, and support. We also appreciate your trust in the Party as we work together to overcome challenges and strengthen our internal democracy,” the notice reads.
The party urged all members, aspirants, and supporters to remain calm and united, committing to the “values of comradeship that define our great Party.”
Further updates on the elections will be communicated through official party channels.
The notice was signed by Amb. Osman Foday Yansaneh, Acting National Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party.
This rescheduling comes at a pivotal time for the APC, Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, as it prepares for internal restructuring ahead of potential future national elections.
