The newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Edward Samadia, together with the Director of Operations in the Sierra Leone Police, ACP John Martin Senesie and team embarks on three days security assurance visit to Kono District.
The entourage arrived in Kono on Friday 20th September 2024 and was received by the Local Unit Commanders of the two police Divisions in the District – Motema and Tankoro – together with stakeholders and a mass of indigenes of Kono.
Addressing personnel at both Police Divisions, Mr Samadia revealed management’s unflinching commitment to cater for the welfare needs of personnel as they continue to keep the country safe and secure.
He encouraged them to work at their best as he and the IGP Mr William Fayia Sellu are aware of the individual performances of personnel and are profiling such records for future opportunities and rewards.
In closing, he assured both LUCs and their regiments of management’s continued support to Motema and Tankoro Police Divisions in order to make their service to Kono District an enjoyable experience. He appreciated them for keeping Kono District safe and secured.
In addition to their engagement with the Police in Kono District, D/IGP Samadia and ACP Senesie engaged various stakeholders across the district with a message of appreciation in helping the Police to maintain a peaceful Kono District.
ACP Senesie accounted his previous experience with the people of Kono District, stressing their love for peace and determination to cooperate with the Police in providing security within their localities. Mr. Samadia voiced out gratitude to the government for giving him the opportunity to serve as the Deputy Inspector General of Police at this time and appreciated every stakeholder for their support to him and the SLP when addressing a gathering at the Fachima Complex in the heart of Koidu Town, Kono District.
Expressing their appreciation to the IGP and the government for appointing one of theirs as Deputy Inspector General of Police, the people of Kono organized various hospitality treat to welcome the entourage starting with a float rally, a validitory session at Fachima Complex and climaxed with a Dinner & Dance party at Legacy Entertainment center on Saturday 21st September. The entourage finally returned to Freetown after attending a thanksgiving service at the Flaming Bible Church in Koidu Town on Sunday, 22nd September 2024.
On their way to Kono, they conducted snap checks and motivate personnel in Makeni and Magboraka Police Divisions.
