Early this week, the Chinese technical team conducted a test of the stadium practice field’s floodlights.
The test aimed to evaluate whether the lights were properly installed, positioned, and bright enough for night activities. During the test, a friendly match was played between the Chinese technical team and the Stadium Rehabilitation team.
According to the report from the Head of the Chinese Technical Team, the practice field will host various sports activities, including Premier League matches.
In December 2024, installation of plastic seats for the practice field’s open stands will commence.
Based on my investigation into the ongoing rehabilitation work, the stadium is expected to be fully ready by 2025 to host national and international sporting events, meeting all FIFA standards.
Special thanks to His Excellency President JMB for ensuring the agreement with the Chinese Government for the installation of plastic seats in the open stands, and to the Ministry of Sports (MOS), National Sports Authority (NSA), and Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for their continued oversight of the rehabilitation efforts. Once completed, the stadium will meet FIFA standards.
