Freetown, October 11, 2024 — Honourable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, commonly known as Chericoco, officially resigned from his role as Deputy Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) party in accordance with Article 47 of the party’s 2022 Constitution.
The handover ceremony, held at the APC headquarters, marked the conclusion of Chericoco’s tenure. He passed the keys to the office suites of the Deputy Leader to Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya in the presence of APC National Chairman Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, along with other senior members of the party’s National Advisory Council (NAC). The event was also attended by notable figures such as Dr. Samura Kamara, Amb. Osman Foday Yansaneh, and National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yayah Tunis.
In his farewell speech, Chericoco expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and party members for the opportunity to serve. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and his readiness to contribute in any future role. His gesture of placing his hand over his heart during his remarks was seen as a symbol of his continued dedication to the party’s ideals.
Chericoco has made a lasting impact on both the APC and Sierra Leonean politics, having served three terms as a Member of Parliament and twice as the running mate to Dr. Samura Kamara. His departure from this position is viewed as a transition to a new phase in his political career.
The APC leadership recognized Chericoco’s efforts in strengthening the party, praising his role in shaping its policies and supporting its mission. His contributions, they said, had been instrumental in solidifying the party’s leadership.
Following the handover, Chericoco attended the launch of the two-day National Women’s Congress Conference at the APC headquarters, underscoring his continued involvement in party activities and his commitment to unity within the party.
