In an effort to streamline the disbursement of payment to ad-hoc polling staff across Sierra Leone, the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to conduct a joint verification exercise.
The exercise aims to facilitate timely and accurate payments to polling staff who contributed to the successful execution of the June 24, 2023 polls.
To ensure efficient processing, ECSL and UNDP will oversee a comprehensive verification process covering all 16 districts of Sierra Leone. This initiative is designed to complement the ongoing Call Centre operations, further enhancing the payment procedure.
Polling staff who participated in the June 24th elections are urged to actively participate in this crucial verification exercise. Beginning Monday, August 21st, through Saturday, August 26th, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, individuals are encouraged to visit their respective ECSL District Offices for the verification process.
To complete the verification, participants must present the following documents:
- A signed and stamped contract issued by ECSL
- A valid government-issued identification card (passport, driving license, NASSIT identity card) or voter registration card
- A functioning telephone number to receive payment notifications
Upon successful verification and subsequent review by relevant authorities, ad-hoc polling staff will receive SMS notifications containing an e-voucher code from Rokel Commercial Bank. This SMS will be sent at least seven (7) working days after the verification process is completed. Individuals can then redeem their e-voucher code at any Rokel bank branch, Mobile Sim Korpor cash out office, or designated cash out points (ECSL training centers) to be announced.
It is of paramount importance for all eligible ad-hoc polling staff to participate in this district verification process. The verification exercise will conclude on Saturday, August 26th, 2023. Additionally, the Call Centre’s operations will cease following the completion of the district verification process.
Please note that this verification exercise exclusively pertains to polling staff who were duly recruited and documented by ECSL for the 24th June 2023 General Elections. The verification process will span 7 days for most districts, with the exception of Bonthe and Karene districts, which will observe an 8-day verification period due to the presence of ECSL offices in each location. Specific dates for verification in Bonthe and Karene districts will be communicated accordingly.

Some of us were taken during the election day because those that were to work on the election day, didn’t come. So they replaced them with us just for the election to happen.
