Bo, Sierra Leone – Brief tensions flared in Bo City on Tuesday after commercial motorbike riders protested a daily ticket fee increase from Le 2 to Le 5.
Security forces quickly restored calm through professional intervention, preventing escalation and resuming normal activities.
Local Unit Commander of Bo West Division, Chief Superintendent of Police Augustine Kabia, acting for the Regional Police Commander South, held talks with the riders alongside Bo District Security Coordinator Mr. Suahibu Koroma from the Office of National Security.
CSP Kabia stressed the need for better communication, saying the riders’ union should have sensitized members before the change to avoid confusion.
The riders raised concerns about benefits under the old and new fees.
The dialogue eased tensions, restoring order in the city.
