Freetown, January 7, 2026 — The All People’s Congress (APC) has handed former Vice President Alhaji Samuel Sam-Sumana a new party membership card dated 2020, presented at his Hill Station home in Freetown.
The action follows a Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) order to replace his 2023 card and recognise his 2020 readmission.
The ruling confirms Sam-Sumana’s continuous membership since 2020, clearing him to run for the APC flagbearer position ahead of the party’s August 2026 National Delegates Conference.
The PPRC stated that his reinstatement was validly approved by the National Advisory Committee in September 2020 under COVID-19 emergency rules.
It rejected claims that the readmission needed further approval, calling them unfounded, and directed the APC to correct the membership date.
With five years of uninterrupted membership now confirmed, Sam-Sumana meets the key requirement to contest for party leadership.
