Freetown, Sierra Leone – 10th December 2024 – The Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) has officially submitted the Auditor-General’s Annual Report for the financial year ending 31st December 2023 to Parliament.
The submission, which took place on Monday, 9th December 2024, marks a critical step in ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.
The report, in line with Section 119(2) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, provides a comprehensive audit of the public accounts of Sierra Leone, including all public offices such as courts, central and local government administrations, universities, statutory corporations, and other entities funded wholly or partly by public resources.
According to Section 119(4) of the Constitution, the Auditor-General is required to submit the report to Parliament within twelve months of the end of the preceding financial year. The report highlights any irregularities in the audited accounts and other issues deemed necessary for Parliament’s attention.
