Bo, Sierra Leone – A devastating road accident claimed the lives of five people on Tuesday along the Bo-Kenema Highway at Bandejum Village, just half a mile outside Bo City.
Eyewitnesses reported that a fuel tanker traveling towards Bo collided violently with a taxi heading from Kenema. The taxi was carrying seven occupants, including the driver, at the time of the crash.
All five individuals in the taxi were killed instantly in the impact. Their bodies have since been recovered and transported to the Bo Government Hospital Mortuary for identification and post-mortem examinations.
The driver of the fuel tanker is currently missing, with his whereabouts unknown. Security and emergency services are actively searching the area as part of ongoing investigations.
Police have not yet determined the exact cause of the collision, but preliminary inquiries are underway. Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
This latest tragedy highlights the persistent safety concerns on the Bo-Kenema Highway, a major route that has seen several serious accidents in recent years.
