In a collaborative effort between
Guinean authorities and Sierra Leone’s security forces have arrested Abubakar Boxx Konteh on March 23, 2024, at the Guinea airport for his alleged role in the November 26th failed coup attempt in Freetown.
The arrest was made through collaborative efforts by security forces from both nations.
Konteh, who had been in hiding within Guinea, was apprehended while attempting to flee to Senegal.
He is under suspicion for his alleged involvement in providing material support for the planning, execution, and evasion of the perpetrators of the failed coup on November 26, 2023.
Additionally, he is suspected of participating in the illicit trade of substances, including the dangerous kush, within Sierra Leone. He is slated to be extradited to Sierra Leone for questioning by the Sierra Leone Police.
Acknowledging the collaborative efforts, the government extends its gratitude to the Guinean authorities for their ongoing cooperation in bolstering security measures between the two neighboring nations.
