Freetown, Sierra Leone — The All People’s Congress (APC), Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, is in mourning following reports of the death of its National Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray.
According to multiple social media reports and party circles circulating today, Mansaray, a veteran politician and longtime APC figure, has passed away.
As of this reporting, the APC party and the Mansaray family have not yet issued an official confirmation, nor have details on the cause of death or funeral arrangements been released.
Mansaray was a prominent Sierra Leonean politician and businessman. He served as Minister of Labour (2007–2010) and later as Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources under former President Ernest Bai Koroma. He rose through the APC ranks, serving as deputy leader before becoming National Chairman, where he focused on party unity and organization.
Born in Tonkolili District, he had a background in insurance and education from Fourah Bay College. He was known for his grassroots connections and stabilizing role within the party during challenging periods.
The news comes after earlier health rumors in 2025, when Mansaray was receiving medical treatment in India. At that time, the APC issued statements denying terminal illness claims and affirming he was responding well to care.
Tributes have begun emerging online, with many acknowledging his decades of service to the APC from the Youth League onward. The development is seen as a major loss for the opposition party as it navigates its political future.
Further official statements from the APC National Secretariat and the family are anticipated soon regarding confirmation, cause of death, and arrangements.
May his soul rest in peace.
