Police at the Gelehun Checkpoint, situated along the Pujehun-Liberia border highway, apprehended 60-year-old Jeneba Kallon after discovering 12 compressed parcels of dry leaves believed to be cannabis sativa.
The arrest took place during a detailed vehicle inspection, where officers found the contraband hidden among her possessions.
Following her arrest, Kallon was transferred to the Regional Police Headquarters South in Bo. The investigation has now been handed over to the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at their Bo head office, which is actively working to trace the origin and intended destination of the suspected drugs, as well as uncover any connections to organized crime networks.
Assistant Inspector General of Police Brima Kanneh, the Regional Police Commander for South, praised the officers at the Gelehun Checkpoint for their diligence and commitment to combating drug trafficking at the nation’s borders. The investigation is ongoing.
