The Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) conducted an induction ceremony on Friday, September 29th, 2023, during which appointment letters were Presented to 121 Interim Village Heads. These individuals will serve as caretakers for all 121 villages in the Western Area Rural District.
In his keynote address, Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs Hon. Tamba Lamina warmly congratulated the interim village heads on their appointments and urged them to seize this opportunity to serve their communities with unwavering sincerity and integrity.
He emphasized the importance of their role as unifiers within their respective villages and encouraged them to collaborate closely with the Western Area Rural District Council to foster development and revenue generation.
Furthermore, he reminded them of the upcoming Village Heads election scheduled for October 28th, 2023. The previous Village Heads’ terms had expired, and the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, in coordination with the Council, had appointed these respected men and women to oversee village affairs until new heads are elected.
Mr. Raman Tom Farmar, Chief Administrator of the Western Area Rural District Council, expressed gratitude to the appointees for accepting leadership roles in their villages and contributing to the nation as local authorities. He assured them of the council’s openness to discussing issues related to service delivery in their respective areas.
Ms. Marie Bangura, the interim Village Head of Gloucester, conveyed a vote of thanks on behalf of her fellow appointees.
Hon. Minister Tamba Lamina was accompanied by the Minister of Western Region and the Director of Local Government.
