In a significant development, the Government of Sierra Leone, acting through the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), has officially granted the contract to Consulting Engineers Group (CEG) Limited.
This contract pertains to the critical Design Review and Construction Supervision for the Upgrading of the Kailahun-Buedu Road.
The official signing ceremony took place on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the China Henan International Corporation Co. Ltd (CHICO) campsite in Gbalahun village, Kailahun District. The signing was a momentous occasion presided over by the Director General of SLRA, Ing. Amara Jambai Kanneh, and Director Bernard Obika. Distinguished attendees included the Minister of Works and Public Assets, Dr Denis Sandy, as well as members from the project communities who will be directly impacted by this development.
CEG, an internationally renowned Indian infrastructure engineering consulting company, has a proven track record in offering a wide range of services encompassing design, planning, engineering, consulting, and construction management solutions. Their expertise extends to various domains, including highways, bridges, tunnels, railways, metros, buildings, and water resources.
Under this crucial contract, CEG will collaborate closely with SLRA to ensure effective supervision, management, and monitoring of the civil works associated with the project, which are being executed by CHICO, a highly advanced player in the field.
CHICO has already made substantial progress in establishing the project site, including the installation of quarries and the construction of a campsite for the supervision engineers.
This campsite is on track to be completed by the end of October, marking a significant step forward in the realization of the Kailahun-Buedu Road upgrade project.
