The Ad Hoc Committee established by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Bureh G Koroma has today formally submitted its comprehensive report to the SLFA Executive Committee.
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁:
The committee’s investigation has outlined the key causes and contributing factors related to the unfortunate demise of the former Blackpool player, Bureh G Koroma. The findings highlight areas requiring immediate attention and support to honor his legacy and address the well-being of his family.
𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
In light of the findings, the committee recommends the following actions:
1. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗵’𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻
The SLFA should provide a one-time financial contribution of Le 50,000 (equivalent to 50 million old Leone) to support the education of Bureh G Koroma’s two children.
2. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹
Mighty Blackpool Football Club is encouraged to support Bureh’s children by providing a one-off sum of Le 25,000 (25 million old Leone) to assist with their educational needs.
3. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
The SLFA should facilitate a round-table dialogue among the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports (MOS).
The purpose of this dialogue is to develop and implement a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will be binding on all parties involved.
This MoU should clearly delineate the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder and serve as a guiding document to address and prevent future conflicts related to roles and responsibilities within the football and sports community.
The SLFA remains committed to ensuring accountability, support for players and their families, and fostering a collaborative environment among all relevant stakeholders in Sierra Leone football.
