Freetown, February 3, 2025 – The lawyer representing Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara has responded to an invitation from the Sierra Leone Police, questioning the lack of a formal written request and the absence of a stated reason for the summons.
In a letter addressed to Assistant Inspector General R.P.G. Roberts, Director of Crime Services, attorney Ady Macauley confirmed that he was contacted via telephone at 11:26 AM regarding an invitation for Dr. Kamara to appear at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by 3 PM the same day. However, Macauley noted that the police did not disclose the reason for the invitation.
Macauley stated that he attempted to reach his client but was unsuccessful.
He further explained that he had been reliably informed that Dr. Kamara had traveled to the provinces to arrange medical care for his ailing mother. Given these circumstances, the lawyer advised that a formal written invitation be extended, explicitly stating the reason for the summons.
Macauley assured the police that he remains available for any further assistance on the matter.
Dr. Samura Kamara, a key political figure and former presidential candidate, has not yet issued a statement regarding the police invitation.
