FREETOWN – Sierra Leone’s national team head coach, Mohamed Kallon, has named a 26-man home-based squad for an intensive training camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for September and October.
The selection features standout talents from the domestic league, including Ghanaian-born midfielder Samuel Bekoe of East End Lions and 21-year-old Abubakar Kamara, the promising goalkeeper from Bo Rangers.
The invited players are expected to assemble at the Sierra Football Academy in Kingtom, Freetown on Tuesday, April 22, where they will undergo early preparations as part of the team’s buildup toward the crucial qualifiers.
Only those who impress during this preliminary phase will secure spots in Kallon’s final squad for the decisive World Cup fixtures later this year.
Sierra Leone currently occupies third place in Group A with eight points from six matches, trailing Burkina Faso by three points and group leaders Egypt by eight.
