Freetown, November 26, 2023 – In a resolute response to a thwarted coup on November 26, 2023, the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, attended a solemn interfaith Funeral ceremony at the Cockerill Military Barracks in Freetown.
The failed coup resulted in the tragic loss of lives, including military and police officers.
The government assures the public that the situation is now under control, with perpetrators of the coup already in custody. An ongoing investigation seeks to unravel the full extent of the attempt.
During the burial ceremony, President Bio and the First Lady paid their respects to the fallen soldiers, standing in solidarity with grieving families.
